Stockholders..
are the problem, at Remington and most/all of the big ammo companies. They want maximum profit and could care less about customers needs or wants. 9mm and .223 are in such demand that all the materials and production capacity is devoted to those and a few other high-demand cartridges. If you have one of the good old hunting cartridge firearms or some other arcane shooter you are pretty much SOL unless you have stockpiled brass and bullets from back when they were available.
The last box of 6.5x50 Japanese brass I saw was priced at $35, and the box looked like it dated from sometime in the 1950s. I doubt that stuff like that will ever become plentiful again. Allegedly PPU makes loaded ammo, but I have never seen any.
