S&W SW40E jamming

Hello All

I just bought two new Wolff magazine springs for this 40 Sigma I happened upon several years ago. They haven't been delivered yet. This pistol has always jammed with one mag but the other did pretty fair. Not good enough to carry though. Now both mags about every other round the slide pushes the nose of the bullet down and it jams against the front of the mag. Hollow points or ball it doesn't matter. A quick pull of the slide and the jammed round will raise up and chamber. It seems like the spring isn't strong enough. It cannot be installed backwards because of the way the follower attaches to it. Funny thing is that if I load the mag with 5 or six rounds they will feed fine.

One thing that seems odd is that with the mag full I can hear some of the rounds rattling in the mag when I shake it. Its like the stagger is not even with some of the rounds. I hope to two new wolf springs helps. This piston probably doesn't have a hundred rounds through it.

I did lighten the trigger with the ink pen spring trick. Someone on another forum said messing with the trigger pull causes this jamming problem but that don't make sense for sure.

If you can shake a full mag and hear rattling, then something is bound up in there. Either the follower is binding, or the magazine body is deformed. I'd buy a couple new magazines.

I once had a Springfield P9 (CZ Copy) in .40S&W. It wouldn't feed worth a poop with either magazine. I tried new springs, teflon spray lube, even polished the feed lips of the magazines. Then I bought a new mag and it worked perfectly.

Buying new mags at close to $40 each will be a last resort for sure. The mags the came with the gun don't have a hundred rounds through each of them. I heard of using the dry Teflon lube and maybe I'll try to use Flitz on the bearing surfaces but something is definitely binding for sure causing the follower to tilt down in front.

Thanks

Installed the new Wolff springs this evening. After installing the first I could really tell the difference in how much harder it was to push the front of the follower down. After loading the mag I didn't have any cartridges rattling. I'll try it out this weekend.
