A CPD Sergeant had posted that on a blog I read

last Thursday, but there was no further verification so I didn't repeat it.

Navy Times reports that a Marine and a Navy Officer engaged, but there is no confirmation for the second.

The weapon(s) used were described as 'prohibited', which of course means that they were personal guns, not issued.

That fact will may, or may not, get swept under the rug.

I read somewhere it was a Glock

Article says there were two handguns found but only one had been fired. Wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot more "prohibited" handguns out there now...

"Wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot more "prohibited" handguns out there now...

My post lower down was done tongue firmly planted in cheek.
I was never unarmed, at any time, once I walked out the front door of my apartment.

Quite a few of my former associates carried as well.

And that was even while we had, and have, heavily armed security guards.

If you'll excuse the paraphrased French, it wasn't even a "catch me - eff me" rule. It was never officially allowed, but was 'winked at' just as long as you didn't make an idiot out of yourself.

And a Sailor... FBI found 2 personal firearms

on scene; "Two additional weapons were found at the scene that belonged to service members. At least one was discharged at the subject, Reinhold said. Further ballistic tests and the autopsy results could be released later this week.

The Navy Times, citing multiple military officials familiar with internal reports, reported that Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White, the commanding officer at the Navy Operational Support Center, fired his sidearm at Abdulazeez during the attack.

I fear his career is toast....

For the good of the service mind you, always for the good of the service. Can't be having these Officers and men flaunt the rules and regs of the service, just to save their own live and the lives of others don't you know. Can't have that....

I expect you are right about that.

I am sure he is screwed or perhaps it belonged to one of the dead soldiers who they can't go after now.

I doubt even the Obama-PC top brass...

risks the thermonuclear-bad PR hit of court-martialing him. It is, however, very easy to see to it he never gets promoted without making the news for it..,
