New Ruger LCP Custom

Have heard stories about first models and how awfull the triggers were and how hard it was to shoot. After a few years I heard the triggers were an improvement over the original ones. I have always wanted a true pocket every day carry gun. Not to replace a large caliber power house. Well I finaly pulled the trigger (pun intended) on the new Custom LCP. The one with the wider red trigger and actual sights and I must say they a fine little pocket pistol with a smooth trigger and fairly easy to hit with. Several years ago I tried the trigger on the earlier ones in my gun store and rejected it right there. There is a world of diffrence between the old and new. I am sure the wider trigger has a lot to do with it but to me it is a lot smoother. I am very impressed.

I have one of the originals and never found the trigger to be that objectionable. It is way more accurate than at has any right to be and shoots fairly well. I wish they would have put sights on them from the start.

Shot a friends once, he painted the front sight bright white and made it at least usable for a aiming aid. I didn't think the trigger was too awful compared to what I expected and it would hold 2" groups at 10-15 yards but I just can't warm to the 380 cartridge. Ill stick with my Smith 442 with stout +P loads for a pocket gun.

I am kind of in the same boat. I don't Carly mine much anymore, but it is handy if you go for a walk or a run. I had no trouble hitting the 8" falling plates at 22 yards at the range I use to shoot at.

When I was really shooting it a lot I could hit a man sized plate at 50 yards most of the time. Doubt I could do it now.

Dad has had one of the originals for a while

I honestly think I did better just pointing and not trying to use the sights which really didn't exist. Sounds like the new model has some major improvements over the original.

it basically doesn't have sights! They are awful. Ended up

Putting a Crimson Trace laser on it. The harder I tried to use the sights, the poorer I shot!

They WERE that way. No longer. Besides they are meant to rub

They never fail to go into battery when pushed into a bad guys belly going bang. The 9mm version is far more tempting to try, although that new Glock 43? Seems like it could be a dandy for that sort of work as well. I am not a Glock guy but...

I Prefer American made guns and the striker fired SR9 is better. Not being made by the total and complete ass Gaston Glurk makes the SR(, S&W Shield the Kahr or even the XDs far ahead on my list of that sort of gun.

It's one of the few autos I've never had jam no matter what the ammo. Other than my Hi Power and SR1911 it's what I consider my most accurate and reliable auto. It seems though there is a backstory to why you don't like them so like I said to each his own.

But it wasn't minute of Coke can at 10 yards...

version is superior. I give them and a good blade to my friends and loved one that won't carry anything...they do carry those.
