Modified a bolt action airsoft for our youngest (real sights and shortened stock). Hadn't gotten it out in a while. He is now able to handle it. Great on Sonic cups at 7 - 10 yards.

It is surprisingly accurate at 25 yards on soda cans.

i hated the sights - put a cheap Savage rear sight on it

And made a barrel band/sight out of micarta to get the height right. You're right - does surprisingly well. Great little trainer with a removable rotary magazine and shells to put the pellets in.

Why do people always want to lean back when they should lean into the gun ? Plenty of time to "learn him", he looks intent...

I've noticed that children and some women seem to lack...

sufficient upper body strength causing them to lean back in an effort to support the weight. Generality, of course, and I try to correct it through lighter arms, exercise, repetition and/or alternate positions. Sometimes the correction just has to wait until there has been enough practice.

he definitely has trouble holding it up but is improving

I got a little carried away - I have him a 22 set up as well and they are dimensionally ok, it is the arm length and strength that is the problem. I think his karate classes he started this year may help some.

The backward lean is a target shooter's stance. We were taught that for offhand shooting back in the days of yore to get maximum bone support for stability with a heavy target rifle. Support hand close in with the elbow braced on the hip.

Pretty much useless for any other kind of shooting.

A sling that he can wrap his arm in and pull the gun into

Himself to help support it might be useful. Honestly it's fairly heavy for a air soft rifle.
