I'm running out of room in the gun safe, so one of the unused rifles needs to go....

This is a almost mint Savage 99EG in 300 Savage and the nicest Savage 99 that I have ever run across. Has the lever safety. Has a brand new Lyman 30 1/2 tang sight that I took out of its' original box and mounted on the rifle (The lyman box and original Savage rear sight come with the rifle.). The rifle was unfired when I bought it and I put about 30 rounds through it. The rifle is as new, with the exception of a very small safe scuff on the toe of the stock, and a very tiny amount of wood chipping at the top of the butt plate that looks like it happened when the butt plate was installed at the factory. Case colors, blueing, wood, and checkering are as factory new.

It is a beautiful rifle, but it is the only 300 Savage that I own and I haven't shot it in probably 20 years, so it makes sense that I get rid of it.

Price is $800 shipped from my FFL to yours (The Lyman tang sight alone usually sells for $300 new in the box these days.).

My first deer rifle was a 99 in 250, and my great-grandfather had a take-down in 300 for hunting deer and moose in Canada. They are wonderful rifles and anyone would be hard-pressed to find a nicer hunting rifle. Certainly sounds like a very fair price to me for someone.

That is one of the best looking 99's I've ever seen too. How long have you had it? Most of the rifles like this are part of a collection. Never had one, but now I'm thinking.

I've had this one a little over 20 years....

Butch.

I've had this Savage a bit over 20 years. It was unfired when I got it.....

My best friend was one of the owners of a gunshop. A older lady brought the Savage 99 and a Winchester Model 12 in saying that they had belonged to her late husband, who had purchased them for hunting and then promptly put them in the closet and never fired them (My friend payed her a good price for the two guns... He was always fair...). That man had extremely good taste in firearms.

I bought both of the guns from the shop. As nice as this 99 is, the real treasure is the Winchester Model 12. It is a new condition 12 ga. Special Field, with a 26 inch full choke barrel and a solid rib. It was a special order and I've never seen another like it. I have 8 Model 12's and love them. They fit me perfectly and I shoot them well. This Special Field is a thing of beauty and just about the perfect late season pheasant gun. Give me a nice fall day, my German Shorthair Pointer, and the Model 12, and I'm in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!

On the model 99, I found a new in the box Lyman 30 1/2 tang sight and put that on the 99, took it out and fired 30 rounds, cleaned it and put it away in the safe where it has stayed since then (I was more into rifle match shooting back then...). I'm more into bird hunting these days, and it's the only 300 that I have, so I'm trying to make room in the safe and at the same time simplify the number of calibers that I have, so it is best if it goes to someone else who would appreciate it.....

Sold pending funds over on the leverguns.com forum.......

That's good to hear...

back in '01 just up east of Oak Harbor, or perhaps it was on the island itself, I came across a very similar one for about the same money, if memory serves me. The idea of a 99 has been gnawing at the back of my brain for a while - not that I need another levergun in the cache, but they have a certain allure...
