...I liked it MUCH better than anything I've grabbed off the shelf in the last 10 yrs.

I found it entertaining to read the adds and tests for miracle gun coatings that were going to change the industry...knowing full well, that 30 years later they aren't around anymore.

The prices really made me want to get back to building my time machine. - JM.

Yup.....while the 'new' age, still has it's classic Writer's, a tour thru time sure is a reminder of some fine times. In fact, tho, the sun is melting the snow, the gardens are being turned, and thre temps less Arctic..when I was going thru boxes of old magazines this winter, it was slow...um..work. yeah, work..at least that's what I told Martha Anne.

I've been going through my hord of 50's and 60's stuff, most I'll never really use again and want to share with those of todays times if they ae interested. The old ads are intesting and seeing what was hot at the time.

Shhh, Don't ruin it for me....

I am a bit behind, still have a bit of a stack of magazines to go through, don't think I've made it up to 1982 yet. Am trying to go through them in order and reading as much as I can in a day. Hope to catch up some day, but the mailman keeps bringing more every day it seems.

I have an almost complete accumulation of 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s American Rifleman magazines that I will give to anyone who wants them, for only the cost of postage.

Come on guys, don't make me take them to the dump.

take a look at any of the gun magazines prior to 1968. The size of the magazine was a lot thicker and the writers knew their stuff better than most today.

As far as the prices, I would like buying collectors guns for pocket change, but I once found an inflation calculator to play with. Just put in the original date and original price. It would calculate present price. I got out one of my oldest magazines and plugged in the gun prices. In most cases, the cost of guns today was about the same cost as the ones back in the 1960's. Of course, some of them have become "very collectable" and don't fit the pattern, but most shooters cost the same today as they did back then. All I know is that I can afford them a lot easier now than I could back then.
