So long to bring 2400 into my life? I am finding it to be a very versatile powder with accurate result in the 44 and 454, getting ready to load some 45 Colt with 255s and 285s over 2400 for the Flattop 45, May try the same loads in the Freedom Arms.

what other pistol powders do you really need.

I have used more Unique than all other pistol powders combined. I use a fair amount of H110 and HS6, but lately it has been Unique and 2400, I think you're right, a man could easily get by with these 2.

Red Dot is good for medium to light loads, and very economical because it takes so little of it to work.
For the most part Unique will do what Red Dot will do, but Red Dot cannot do all that Unique will do.

I'd be interested to hear how it works when used in cold
weather. I've had hangfires with 44 magnum rounds that were loaded with W296 or H110 when hiking in -10 F degree temperatures. My angel watching over me was on the ball that day!

I had good luck to minus 20 (The coldest I have shot at) with 296 & magnum CCI primers.

2400 will work fine in cold temperatures. Use a heavy crimp, and in extremely cold weather, you might want to use Magnum primers.

which were the 2nd and 3rd cans I ever bought. In retrospect, there's little handgun loading I have done in the last 38 years, that could not have been accomplished with only those two.
