XDS 45 range update

The higher rear sight was a major improvement - brought the shots up around 6 inches at 15 yards. Bad news is I was not at all impressed with the accuracy - on the order of 4" at 15 yards. It may be that I have not found ammo that it likes. I have tried both 185 and 230 grain ammo. Doesn't do too bad with the Hornady 185 zombie load (hey - there were $5 cheaper on clearance!).

4" is still center of mass hits for which the gun is intended. So far I have found with my XDs9 that getting a good trigger press makes a big difference, but you might not have that problem. Keep at it.

I am sure watching the trigger would help. Catoosa and Stonewolf were with me and both commented on the trigger being an issue. It is never the less a pocket gun and hasn't hiccuped once.

The trigger didn't seem to have a consistent pull, almost spongy. Like it was hard then soft then hard again before the final break. I concentrated on that more than groups, also tested where best to hold the sights. With the 230gr it hit a hair low maybe an inch two at the most from my point of aim, and shot an inch left but that is due to my left eye Dom right handedness.

Mine was quite accurate

All shots into one ragged hole offhand and 7-10 yards. That was with 230-grain lead reloads and 230-grain Speer Gold dot loads from Georgia Arms.

It did appear to like 230 grainers better

I need to stock up on some 230 gr rounds for the next go. I did shoot more 185s than 230s. That may be the ticket.

230 grain in 45 ACP...Yes, the way JMB designed them

200 grainers IIRC but our military brass had issue with that:)

There's always one!
