IMNSHO, a person might as well take a cutting torch to a gun as to port the barrel. A few years back, I passed up an otherwise very nice S&W Model 58 for under $300 because it had been Magnaported. Absolute deal killer. The shop finally sold it, but it took a while even at that price, so I must not be the only one who hates those things. And there is apparently nothing you can do to salvage a ported barrel unless it's long enough to cut the ported part off.
