I like Eastern Washington, that isn't far from my hometown in Eastern Oregon. I'd go tomorrow if I could find a decent job.

I lived on the east side at the tri-cities for a number of years, and on the west side a number of years. Both had their good points.

West side rained nine months of the year steady, the other three, only when you wanted to do something like camping. Fishing was fantastic in both fresh and salt water. Has many beautiful rivers and the PACIFIC OCEAN. You can dig clams on the beaches. Hunting was great, if you don't mind hunting in the rain. Beautiful forests and stinky mills. At 80 degrees folks go inside and turn on the AC. Lots of christmas tree farms, dairy farms, many mountains, national forest, lumber company land tracts. Near big cities for shopping.

East side had more camping, some good fishing on the Columbia and Snake rivers. Close to Spokane for shopping. Blue Mountains, Hell's canyon and wilderness areas for adventure. Good dove,Pheasant, chucker, partridge, duck and goose hunting. Rock chucks for varmint shooting. Near to the valley of the Jolly Green Giant, wheat, corn, asparagus, and alfalfa fields. Also apple, peach, apricot, and cherry orchards. Lots of vineyards. This is four wheel drive, jeep, and horse country. Can get hot. 106 to 112 degrees("but it's a dry heat":-D ) is normal at the highth of summer.

Yeah, everytime you write about something you are doing there, I think of Walla Walla. I was on my way to a gunshow at the fair grounds there one Saturday morning and it was so foggy, I could barely see past the hood of my pick-up. Got there and boy was I glad I hadn't turned back. I found a model 17 with a 6.5" barrel that someone had rounded the butt and front sight, added a red insert, and white outline rear sight. They did a beautiful job on the butt, it looked like a factory job. It had some custom walnut grips that were kinda plain jane, but other wise was a really nice gun. The first time I shot it, I was expecting to sight it in, but it shot right to point of aim with the ammo I had. Later, I tried some factory round butt K-frame grips, but they wouldn't fit. So, I shot it with the custom grips for a while. I found a set of smooth target grips at a show that were kind of beat up so the price was only five bucks. I put them on the seventeen and cut them to fit. Then, sanded them down and rubbed them good with true oil. To this day they are still on the gun. I took it on a trip up above Hell's Canyon out of Asotin. On my forest service map was a place in that area called "Grouse flat". The little voice in my head said hummm!! My seventeen and I made a little stroll through that area and lo and behold I saw a couple of Grouse. One was on a log so I decided to try for his head. I figured I'd have supper or a clean miss. The little seventeen knocked him off that log like a ducky at a carnival. It has been my favorite ever since.
