Mini range report XDS 45

Springfield XDS shot with all magazines (3 std one extended) without a hitch. I probably ran close to 100 rounds with it. Bad news is it shot low with everything (Hornady 185 self defense, Remington compact Golden Saber 230 gr) but the Georgia Arms 185 fmj. The 185 fmj was pretty much dead on but the Hornady 185, standard 230 fmj and Remington Golden Saber 230 gr all shot way low at 15 yards. I was disappointed but it was too hot to get serious and figure out exactly where the rounds were hitting. Recovered one Hornady in the hard dirt - quite impressive. I really like the pistol but I need to find something that shoots to point of aim.

First one I've heard of. Call them….

…maybe they have different height sight options.

I was shooting offhand with mine but still shouldn't be that far off. I just contacted Springfield so we will see. I won't get much chance to shoot it again for a while but may try my laser trainer with it to see where it shows to be hitting.

Maybe you got the sights off a 9mm or something.

My XDS 9 shoots about 1" low and 1.5-2" left. Once I'm sure its the gun, I will adjust the sights, maybe replace. It is accurate.

Same here - what I did was a quicky with a swinging self

Sealing target (we did put a stick on target). I need to be sure where it hits and it is not me. The 185 fmj though I almost put through the same hole at about 10 - 12 yards. A little low and to the left but not bad, 2 inches off probably.

Do you find the trigger pull a little gritty ? I stripped mine and lightly stoned the face of the striker sear-engagement area and, although still a stiff pull, the grit seems to be gone.

I did not focus that much on the trigger but I think it was

Decent. I had run snap caps through it several times which might have helped.

Confused on a higher plane...Tried my Laserlyte Trainer Pro

With the XDS and at bedroom ranges it was pretty much dead on. I definitely need to shoot it more before I change anything.

I have the thicker backstrap on it. Think the thinner one

Would change point of impact?

I used the one that came on the gun - good question. I will try the other one.
