Off topic - reverting from Windows 8 to 7

We got a new Dell laptop this spring with Windows 8. Windows 8 has been nothing but a pain. How much trouble would it be to go backwards and install Windows 7 on it?

no problem, just buy a Win7 disk

You will have to find a Win7 disk somewhere and install it. Should be easy enough.

Do you have Win8 or 8.1? My wife has a new Lenovo with 8.1 and she had no problems converting to it. You can set 8.1 to boot to a desktop and it will look almost identical to 7. There some add-ons such as "classic shell" that will add back some of the Win7 features such as a start menu. I would recommend trying to get past the problems that you have with 8, and if you do have 8 instead of 8.1 I would recommend upgrading to 8.1.

As for installing 7, I upgraded a laptop a few years ago. I booted to the Windows disk and installed the OS. I had to go to the Dell website to find a driver for the network port and install it from a usb drive, then I plugged the computer into my router with a cable and it installed all of the remaining drivers that it needed.

Of course any data that you have on the laptop now would have to be saved to another hard drive first, and any apps that you have installed on the laptop would have to be re-installed after going back to 7.

IT WAS A REAL PAIN FOR ME ALSO BUT

THANKS TO MY SON-IN-LAW I STAYED WITH IT. I WOULD NOT GO BACK. SO MUCH MORE OF WHAT I CAN USE AND MUCH FASTER ALSO.
