My wife's cousin's seven year old little boy was found at the bottom of the pool a week ago Saturday and I reached out to you guys for prayer.

This is what we know at this time:

He was pulled from the pool without heartbeat, respiration, lungs full of water, blue and starting to bloat. His father is a nurse anesthesiologist and another father who is a ER doc were immediately on him.

CPR was began and 911 called. Fire Rescue was there in 2 minutes with 100% O2 and electric defib. Helo arrived and he was at the local Children's Mercy hospital around 10 minutes after he was pulled from the water. Just amazing!

He had cardiac rhythm at that time and was placed on a vent. His body temp was chilled and he was paralyzed and put in a drug coma.

He was kept in this state of suspended animation for 3 days upon which the paralytic drugs were slowing withdrawn and he was slowly warmed up to normal body temp.

He slowly began to come around, very weak, lungs very very sick.

As of today he is in a wheel chair breathing on his own, ate a little for the first time and is talking clearly to his family and doctors.

He is still very weak and his lungs are slow to heal due to being full of water but it appears that he will have a full recovery. There does not seem to be any neurological damage.

These near-drowning events rarely turn out well. Looks like this boy beat the odds.
