Picked this one up from today, after a seller-borne SNAFU.

S&W M26-1 "Georgia State Patrol" 50 year commemorative, in .45 Colt. It's got a tapered 5" barrel, smooth narrow trigger, service hammer, and neat lanyard swivel. Arrived with all the goodies, including the presentation box, various letters from Mr. Jinks, letters to the Georgia troopers describing what seems like a painful distribution of the weapons, plus some personal mementos from the seller, a retired longtime state trooper.

It came to me described as NIB, which it may be, but it's not mint. That's fine, actually, because I plan to shoot the heck out of it and to wear off the relatively subdued gold lettering by drawing and reholstering it. Fits great in my favorite Simply Rugged Cumberland Flap holster.

This particular model is one I've wanted for several years, never thinking I'd have either the dumb luck to come across one of the 750 made nor the balls to lay down the cash to get it. Turns out the seller offered me a phenomenal deal, so it just goes to prove, "make an offer", you never know what may happen.

While picking it up, I made a deal with my local pusher for a nice condition FR-8. he had been holding it for a few years for a consigner who simply vanished. I made an offer, and... he accepted, likely out of frustration. Good week! And I'm readying the wool blankets for my stay in the dog house :-P

Very nice. You need some ivory grips on it. ;-)

.45 Colt in a N frame is a great combo.

True! And that means acting quickly...

... officially speaking.

I've sort of gravitated toward the .45 Colt in N-frames after dabbling in other calibers. Almost a perfect fit, considering.

Always though that would be a near ideal package. Not a fan of the bling but the barrel length and caliber make it one I could live with. Alas, never seen one in the flesh. Guess I'll have to soldier on with my 4 inch Smith 25-9.

... including the caliber marking on the left side of the barrel.

My working plan is to shoot it, a lot, thereby wearing off the gold paint. "Beausage" etc.

I used Sweets on my NM Flattop...
