Savage 99 Value?

I'm trying to fine tune the value of one of my Savage 99's. I'm buying a couple of other "toys" so I need to get rid of at least one, and coming up with an accurate value will help me decide what should go.

The rifle is a Savage 99 EG in 300 Savage and of mid 1950's vintage. It is essentially new condition and it looks like hadn't been used or fired until I bought it 20 years ago. No dings, no blueing wear, just like it came out of a time warp. I added a new Lyman 30 1/2 tang sight to it (even still have the new box for the Lyman tang sight). These tang sights seem to sell for $200 just by themselves. I put 30 rounds through it and then it became a safe queen....

It's the only 300 Savage that I have, so it's a logical choice to go....

Anyway, I'd appreciate your opinions on what it's worth.

Thanks!!!!

Around here it would retail for about $800 due to the

chambering. A collector might pay more, but you have to wait on them to find you. Many a hunter will never bother to look past the chambering. BEFORE 2008 these brought $900 or so. The economy seems to have diminished collector interest in any but the finest examples of anything.
