So I get this Wilson Combat email flyer and...

They are advertising their drop in trigger group. Says it has a 1911 style half cock notch. Now I know nobody ever uses gimmicky horse manure to dazzle the tactical so there must be a reason for a 1911 style half cock notch on an AR...right? Wonder if they have a quick release for the rear pin so you can push it like a button with one hand and break it open like a trusty O/U giving quick access to the hammer so you can put it on half cock. Maybe I've just gone off half cocked? Can someone explain what I'm missing.

Are they pushing it as a safety measure?

I mean what else could it do?

Heck if I know....

But if their trigger is so sensitive it needs a safety half cock notch to make it safe it doesn't belong on my rifle. Then again, I'm not a big fan of adding much of anything to my rifle that isn't pretty much basic Milspec AR.

I just went to their sight to look at the description....

And it says it allows the trigger to meet or exceed USGI drop standards for safety. Thinking about dropping my rifle and having the trigger fall until it hits a secondary half cock notch just sorta gives me the weebie-jeebies. I guess if it was going on a match rifle it would be one thing but they call it "Tactical" (which to me means it has a mind of its own:) I don't even have a scope on mine anymore, just a set of clamp on sights sights. Not to exciting but it works.

Could be aimed at 3 gunners.

We run with scissors. :-D

They bang, drop and dump their rifles, but also need to be able to hit things out to 600 yards or so.

Some of that 3Gun stuff looks fun...

I would love to do some of that but I almost have to take a day off just to go shoot anymore. I thought you were supposed to have more time when the kids are grown but it doesn't seem to be the case:)

I didn't get into it until...

..I was 40. (USPSA , 3 gun etc.) I found that at 40 I was still younger than 90% of the people involved. It's all about time and money.

It's a bit of a bummer knowing you're starting out, well past your prime. lol I regret that I didn't start competing when I was younger like a couple people tried to convince me to do. But the truth of the matter is I wouldn't have been able to afford it when I was younger, because in reality I can't afford it now.

Probably helps keep you young and healthy though. Beats watching Wheel Of Fortune and complaining about your ailments:)
