The barrel has been cut to 23". A little post purchase research revealed this. However, for the price, I am still in the tall grass. I like a shorter barrel anyway. Heck, .22 LR loses velocity in long barrels.

Thought the proportions looked a little off...

But I love those early 52's, they are great rifles. I used them in jr position smallbore competition and they took me all the way to distinguished expert and were still capable of much more than I was. I still take a 52A out squirrel hunting on occasion and it is just so much fun to be able to have absolute confidence in a piece of equipment.
