My hometown, Emporia, KS is the "home" of Veteran's Day. This pic is from last year. My Dad is carrying "Old Glory". He was 84 then, and the only WWII vet able to march in the parade. He is leading it again tomorrow. Fought with the 1st ID through Europe and was pulled out of law school to go to Korea in 1950 as an officer.

I didn't know Emporia was the home of Veterans day. Good to see that your dad can still lead the parade. I love the Flint hills!!! I come out to Kansas every year to hunt turkeys near Alma.

Al King was a local legislator that talked Eisenhower into pushing it through, changing Armistace Day to Veteran's Day. If you run out of turkeys at Alma, let me know. I always have a few hundred running around on my ground.
