He was the man on between-the-wars sporters. A stunning loss.
The cadet pic from Doublegun linked below was posted by him.
Oh, no. I'm sorry to read this.

His book, to which you alerted me, has been a revelation.
I'd been in touch with him a few times, but had no luck recently. Now I understand.
What a weird coincidence...

We were just discussing him and his book.
That's sad.
Mr Petrov will be missed, as a scholar and person----

it is with sorrow that we read of his passing. He was a long-time contributor on double-gunshop.com, pretty much being a plank-holder. His research and documentation of 20th Century gun-builders is really the new foundation for appreciating both the known and obscure contributors to the modern classic sporting rifles. he gave very freely of time and knowledge to amateurs like myself and to seasoned scholars and collectors. Should you wish to express your appreciation of his work, there will most likely be a memorial header over on DGS. I will miss him and while we knew he had continuing health issues, it is a sad morning at this keyboard. Goodbye, Mr Petrov.
he lived here, and i met him a couple of times. cheerful
