So I picked up a double-stack 1911.....

......and broke my decision to no longer buy polymer framed handguns.

Found a super clean, Israeli built Bul M5 in 9mm, stainless Commander sized. This is the same gun as the Kimber BP10 or Chas Daly M5, with a rounded trigger guard, steel sub-frame, polymer grip frame, ramped barrel. Best of all, two 18-round magazines! Depending on the holster, this should fit in a standard 1911 shuck.

I was interested in these about 10 years back when Kimber was importing the frame and building up pistols using their own parts for the rest of the gun, but the price always seemed too high for a plastic framed gun. Looking for Kimber BP Tens on Gunbroker it seems owners still hold these dear, the cost is high, even on well used examples.

So when I found a cherry Bul for right at 400 bucks sans magazine, it was a done deal, even though it was a 9emem. The two SS mags were purchased separately for 77 bucks. Best of all, because of the ramped barrel, I can get crazy down the road by swapping the top end and ejector to build it up as a .45ACP.

I've moved away from plastic save for one Glock and the girl-child's SR22, but these was one of those long suppressed itches that needed scratching. At the price I'm into it, I can always break even or better if I decide to move it along.
