Odd reloading die question

I'd like to figure out if my 7mm Rem Mag dies have enough room for a 3/8" long neck. What would you suggest to figure this out? I was thinking of making a CerroSafe casting might be the best way to go. Other ideas?

Thanks!

Trade it for a 30-06... Just sayin...

Carosafe is the way to go.

hahaha I already have a few '06's and keep looking to change them into something else. I'll likely keep the FN Mauser as an '06 but the 1917 may become an 8mm Mag or mebee a 9.3x62....depends on what the No. 1 '06 becomes--35 Winchester anyone? ;-)

Yeah, I'll be melting up some CerroSafe for a chamber cast. May as well cast the die too. I tried runing a .300H&H case in the 7mm die but the shoulder collapsed and it wasn't clear to me just how much neck room I had.

Thanks Rob!

I would try probing with a piece of wire

The part that sizes the neck should be a straight cylinder and you could feel if it changed diameter or ended.

Thanks bj!

I did give that a try but results were inconclusive...
