I shot this one a lot this afternoon. When I shoot it I am reminded all over again why this revolver has been so popular for so long. One of Rob's great holsters surely does carry it nice. Merry Christmas every one.

Colt SAA .45!!! Very glad to see that in use.

I have had two .44 Special Colt SAA resolvers.......

by Otony, Wednesday, December 25, 2013, 16:00 (3929 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

.........HAD being the operative term, sadly enough.

Also had a .357 SAA, a dual cylinder .22 Peacemaker, another dual cylinder .22 New Frontier, a 2nd Gen 1860 Army, a 2nd Gen Pocket Navy, a Python, an Official Police, two Detective Specials, several variations of Colt 1911s and Commanders, a Woodsman, a Lawman, a single shot Lord, a New Service, an Ace, and likely a few other Colts I have forgotten.

What I have not HAD is the sense to keep ANY of the above guns. Not. A. One. I do have a Colt 2nd Gen 3rd Model Dragoon, the Guiseppe Garibaldi edition no less. If I stay focused, I may own that one until I'm pushing up daisies.

Sigh......

I came across a 4-3/4" 44 Special up in Da UP (eh?)...

...a couple years ago. It used to belong to Al Anderson, so it will be with me until I crater.

What Generation is that SAA?

If that gun doesn't make you drool a bit then you don't love single actions. I love my USFA but they just don't have that same look that time gives those old Colts. Keep shooting it please, I hate the idea if them becoming safe queens...

That is a thing of beauty. What are the grips.

It was bought new in 1974. The grips are ivory. I have the rubber grips as well. It is a shooter and has been since it was new. I enjoy it too much for it to ever stay in the safe very long.

I thought it looked like a 2nd Gen

Something about the finish just looked like a 2nd Gen to me. Very nice!
