Its got a dark chocolately look to it...one of my favorites. Sure beats the orange laminate stuff like my stainless 4 5/8" SBH has on it.

But, researching rosewood, it seems it is only just a little bit more specific than saying "tropical hardwood". There seems to be many different woods which are all 'rosewood'. I was left with the feeling of being educated and really not knowing much more than when I started.

I love the grips from that era. Almost as much as the oiled walnut (and you could tell) from the earlier times. Shortly after they made those, they went to what A.K. Church called "mystery wood" and that may have been goncalo alves (didn't he play lead guitar for Ten Years After?). In general, I have not been happy with Ruger's recent wood choices.

Personal opinons are worth what you paid...
