Boone Co. Bonded Ivory?

Has anyone here had any experience with the bonded ivory grips offered by Boone Trading Company? I was considering some for my Super Blackhawk. I know I took a look at some Tru Ivory at CSA maybe 2 or 3 years ago. If memory serves Jared had the Tru Ivory and it looked very good. Very realistic with the right feel. The stuff from Boone is less expensive but I have no idea how it stacks up. The real deal would be nicer, but it is too pricey for a woods gun right now.

No expirience with their grips but my uncle is a scrimshawer and he deals with them. And has recommended Boone's to me in the past. I would be interested in what you think of their grips if you buy some.

I don't think I have ever handeled the Boone product. Most of the substitutes I have looked at May be able to match the color, but they lack the feel and grain.

The Tru ivory is great. I can tell the difference between it and real ivory but it is the closest I have seen. The true ivory has grain, unlike most ivory substitutes. The problem if you can call it that with the grain in Tru Ivory is that you can tell it is a laminated layer, in other words it is very uniform, where real ivory is a little like wood and the grain is more random.

I sent the Bar S/Tru Ivory folks an email regarding pricing but have not heard from them. The bonded ivory is pretty reasonably priced, but no grain.

I heard that they were currently slow on replying. Not sure what that means. I don't see how they could be that busy, hope they are not going the way of USFA.
