Did anyone happen to notice the .22 Magnum 1911 @ SHOT?

I know we will soon hear from Byron about how this is only as powerful as a .22 Long Rifle 
but all that aside, I find this to be an interesting idea. Certainly a bit more immediately usable than the RIA .22TCM, and I for one am always intrigued by what can be done with the 1911 platform.
Did any of you SHOT attendees see this? Apparently it was available for firing during the media introduction range day.

.22 WRM out of pistol (and a Heritage SA at that) beat a .22 LR out of a rifle on Alligators. But, of course, they never specified which load they used.

Not a show I would watch.........
However, how did these "Swamp Men" go about shooting 'gators with a .22 pistol?
Friends from South Africa have told me that unless they hit the crocs square in the brain with highpower rifle bullets that they would flop around some and the just swim off to die later underwater. Very, very hard to kill.
Then I have seen some real big steers shot from above in the brainstem with a .22 rifle that dropped so hard they bounced.
I guess it is jsut how you hit 'em.

pull the line up and shoot the animal at the edge of the boat. There were some .22 LR AND WMR guns (you sometimes see them handle ammo) (Marlins and older Savages) most usually in use but sometimes a Marlin 336 (.30?) and the good old boys hunt squirrels with various single-shot shotguns, mostly Savage. (edited to add) Yes, they do mention the small target the brain presents...
In the episode in question one of the gator fishermen has a problem killing the gators with his .22 LR. So he borrows the SA .22 Mag revolver from a friend. It is clearly a Heritage Roughrider, about $240 MSRP. One can easily see the safety in one shot.

I usually watch in the 30 min to 1 hr while I wait for my bride to decide to battle her insomnia and come to bed. I'd rather watch that than another lyin' politician or some stuff about various dysfunctional families. Most of the people on this show are actually functional members of their families and communities even if they are a bit different compared to your average city dweller. I rather think they are more like me than anyone else on TV so it is a bit funny that the idea behind having them on TV is to present a "freak show".

They are real people making a living in the swamps. Yes, TV does do some stupid stuff with the film and edit it to fit there needs. It's one of my favorite shows. Along with Ax men, Justified, Gold Rush, NCIS and Swamp loggers.

Jacketed soft point 22 mag. Couldnt believe it when I chrono'd it but thats what it did or the chrony lied for 6 shots. So i guess the swamp people were right that heavier jacket of the 22 mag allowed for better penetration along with maybe more fps

Now Byron, you're reminding me of a funny story about bovine butchering. I've seen my dad drop a big Brahma steer with an old savage single shot .22 LR. Last week a friend of mine set out to attempt the same with a cow using his .22 LR pistol, I'm not sure what make. I am most sad that I was not present to observe the show, but those who did were quite jolly in the telling of how he attempted to get the cow to agree to letting him put his pistol up in the middle of the cow's forehead before he pulled the trigger. She was not agreeable to the endeavor and so he ended up firing three rounds into her cranial region before she keeled over. Only to start to revive before they cut her throat.
I would NOT recommend letting my friend kill your next gator for you.
