Bought a new SxS shotgun.........

.....that has impressed me quite a bit. It is a limited run CZ Bobwhite featuring upgraded wood and a satin nickel receiver rather than one that is color cased. It is a 20ga, with double triggers, 28" barrels, and a straight grip. Comes with five choke tubes, and I am fairly sure Beretta chokes interchange, so I have another half-dozen tubes that should fit.

It is very lively and finished pretty well for a gun in this price range. I picked it up new for $588 shipped, which is actually under wholesale for the standard version. Having handled a great many finer doubles over the years, I would have to say that I could only find a better side by side one of two ways. First would be the proverbial widow selling her husband's Fox or Webley for a pittance. I doubt i could do that to any woman, so that option is out however unlikely it might be.

Second would be to throw down three or four times my purchase price (to start!) to obtain a better gun that would undoubtedly be finished more nicely and handle even livelier than this gun. However those lovely and desirable differences, while notable, might not be justifiable to SWMBO.

To be honest, I do not use a shotgun enough to warrant spending more than this. I might appreciate a finer gun, but I certainly don't need one, nor am I skilled enough to be able to notice an actual difference when in use.....unless of course the fit from one to another is grossly incorrect.

This has always been my dream configuration. I might secretly desire lighter and longer barrels, but otherwise this fits the bill. I'm happy, it looks good, and that is all that matters. Gonna try to wear it out, I've set aside some time this weekend to do just that at the range. Quail and grouse beware!
