Home again! I picked up this 629 while in AK. It was a 6" N

I picked it up because it was part of a package deal. Not because I really wanted a 6" 629...I shot it a bit carried it a little used it as a loaner for a friend visiting. It just didn't really suit me. But, I had seen AK Ray's 629 Classic with it's heavily chamfered cylinder and I always like 5" N frames... Fermin had been bragging on Alan Harton ...so, off it went to Texas. Alan did a great job; cut the barre made a new patridge front sight black powder chamfer on the cylinder...about a 8 month turn reasonable prices. Milt Morrison slicked the action for me...Then it sat in the safe for 2 years. I sold it here to Andy Shelton, He traded it to Lee Jurras and Lee offered back to me. I think it will stay here this time. [image]

A fellow who messes around in places where there's big mean smelly critters had ought to have himself a handy whomper like that. I'd keep it this time if I was you.

It's worth more money now.

Rob, I put about 100 rds thru it, give or take, missed a couple jacks, but killed a couple rocks and sticks near the 100 yd mark. Never got around to sighting it in.
Pidlin 250 cast Keith w/18.5 gr. 2400. Excellent DA. never shot it SA. :-P

Thanks again Lee!

I can see where the Mountain Gun gets the nod, but for my money, the gussied up, heavy barreled 5" still get the "most versatile" award. Especially when it's been tuned and preened like yours has.

And the Cumberland Flap? I'm a fan. As you know.

Well you have a nickle 5" N frame, we can swap :-)

"incestuous gun trading"... there's more than one shooting iron that's "made the rounds"... where it will turn up next is anyone's guess!

I wonder who ended up with the Green J Scott N frame Magna
