Six years ago today....
My son called tonight to tell me about his day.
Left the Corps three years ago for college when he was told that they would not deploy for a third tour ("Dad its the Super Bowl and we all want to go") and were told that the Kilo Co had enough war for awhile.
Flew through school and graduated with a degree in Manufacturing Technology in three years and started work a week after graduation in an Aerospace company in his field that recruited him in part for his security clearance with the Corps. Happy as a clam working 58 hours a week out the chute making secret stuff out of titanium.
Called and ask if I remembered when he called six years ago...
He began to break up and told me it was six years ago today that the boys from Kilo Co. Zindras, McRah, Noble and Lynch were killed right around him.
He said he thought about that day everyday and why he walked away with his ears ringing.
Make you wonder how things turn out.
