OT Mini-Review: Duluth Trading Co. 'Longtail' T-Shirts

by FOG, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, 18:08 (4092 days ago)

Of the 18 VARIETIES they offer, I've been wearing two of them for years now, and they're the best 'plain' t-shirts I've found in a long time:
MEN'S SHORT SLEEVE LONGTAIL T W/OUT POCKET
MEN'S LONG SLEEVE LONGTAIL T WITHOUT POCKET

In terms of fabric weight, I'd call them 'medium' (some might say 'heavy'; I don't think anyone would call them 'light').

Comparing them to Carhartt cotton t-shirts, I'd say this is no comparison. For example, I bought an olive-colored Carhartt 'tall' size t-shirt at a local store the other day. One cold-water washing and low-temperature drying later it 'fits' like a tent (which seems to happen with a lot of their shirts).

That almost never happens with the Duluth Longtails (although it did with the two white-colored short-sleeve t-shirts I got there).

Regarding fit, I buy the Duluth t-shirts one size down compared to other brands, which according to the reviews seems to work for a lot of other people, too.

FYI :-)

Yep, they are good shirts. Also have several pair of Duluth

firehose pants/shorts - much nicer, heavier duty, heavier cloth, and sturdier construction than 5.11 pants.

Downside is they look like 5.11s... :-( Wonder if all those guys carrying packages for their wives at the mall realize they are all dressed identically? 5.11 pants, tactical knife, 5.11 vest, ball cap and shades. You can sometimes differentiate them by shirt color... as in, "CCW, green shirt. CCW, blue shirt., etc.".

"Shoot me first" pants?

Jeeze that's pretty much all I wear now.

I bought a pair of 5.11's a few years back so I could stop shooting USPSA/3 gun etc. matches in blue jeans. That's the only place I wore them. Then I started wearing them to work. I fell in love with all the pockets and how much lighter/cooler they were.
I don't really buy 5.11'a anymore, but "shoot me first" parts are about all I wear now. Blue jeans feel like torture now.

Long tailed tee shirts

I like the long sleeve 'n short sleeves both. Expensive, but they last for years. Only place I've found long sleeve w/pocket. They are much heavier cloth than normal tee shirts.

Expensive underwear.

I bought a few pair of their underwear a couple months ago, also just to try on those long hot summer match days.

They are great. But I don't see myself buying any more. I'm not in the $20 a pair undershorts tax bracket.

what did you replace the 5.11 pants with?

are excellent "" wear. extra pockets for flash lights or pistol mags deep pockets for pocket carry and roomy for inside the waistband carry. And they don't look "tactical".

Frequently anyway and I can get by with wearing them to work.

Love the shirts. May have to try the pants one day

Have several pair of cargo pants/ shorts from Dickies, Cabelas, and so forth. Like them, even if they aren't truly "tactical".
