Need an opinion of an interesting hand gun

My local shop has on consignment an AMT 22 Magnum. It has what looks like a 3 inch barrel and Millet white outline rear sight. If I remember it was made in Torrence Ca. and it looked to be in very good shape. Price at $400 and something (can't seem to remember such details). What do you all think of this. Pretty sure there is some wiggle room in the price. Would it cycle 22 WRF?

Sounds like the price is to high to me.

Some say they don't cycle .22 WMR reliably. I think it

depends on the individual gun. Set up for WMR it isn't likely but possible one would cycle WRF.

My 6" gun was made in Irwindale or Covina and feeds 22 magnum ammo fine. I haven't had any problems with reliability. I'm sure a better shot than me could do a nicer job of proving the accuracy of my gun. The one thing wrong with mine is that the trigger doesn't reset properly after shooting a round. I flick it with my finger, almost like striking the top of a kitchen match with your fingernail and that's enough to reset it.

If it doesn't fix itself with use, I'll take it to a gunsmith to straighten out for me. It's a neat little semi auto, and I wouldn't mind having one like you describe. I paid a little more than the gun you are looking at is priced at, but my gun was in the factory box and included 2 extra factory magazines. I also bought it about 3 years ago when prices were probably higher.

.22 Mag in 3" barrel....

by Byron), Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 05:04 (4693 days ago) @ Art

Will not deliver much more velocity than a good high speed Long Rifle. The gun will be impressive to shoot...real loud with a big flash...about like a full power 9mm...22 Mag in a rifle is a wonderful performer...short barrels...not so much...

Keep in mind....

by Byron, Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 05:37 (4693 days ago) @ Byron)

A 3" autopistol barrel includes the chamber back to the breech face. This means the 3" .22 Mag Automag has less than 2" of real "barrel".....even though it will be real loud...it won't shoot as hard as one might expect....

I forgot to mention that the guns SELL, like right now.

They are in demand. People want them so I don't think that you can get hurt too badly if you don't like it. We have generally sold them for about $400-450.

Thanks. Not sure I want it but you may have helped.

I remember reading that they have a dimpled chamber

by Bob Hatfield @, Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 17:17 (4693 days ago) @ Art

that allows brass to flow into the dimples and delay the blowback.
