1911 Trigger

For well over a half century I have had a strong preference for the short trigger in the 1911 pistol. I am now finding with age stiffness in my hand the long trigger is easier to control. I have now changed them all out with long triggers.

I'm still with the short ones - my little ole paws and short fingers just can't get all the way around a long trigger without pushing it to the side as I squeeze.

The Combat Commander I bought a couple of monthe ago had the factory long plastic trigger. Took it to my 'smith to get it replaced with a short one. He asked "How short do you want it?" I showed him the short, smooth trigger on my .38 Super and he told me to wait a few minutes. Ten minutes later he handed me the Commander with the trigger cut back to just the right length, smoothed and beveled on the sides. I had wondered if that could be done, and sure 'nuff it can. Works fine now.

I have the same problem... short fingers... I had a Gold Cup that I had the 'smith put in a short trigger and had him reshape and shorten it even further like you did... guess that's why I can't stand the DAO or double action first shot triggers on a lot of semi's these days... give me a 1911 with the extra short trigger and I'm happy... even with my revolvers, I hammer them back with my thumb for each shot.. I don't do double action... guess that's why I like them SAA's for my revolver choice... GRIN

my favorite of them being the old checkered GI short trigger. I don't care for the flat MSH but I do like a longer trigger with those, and the Greider is a good one.

The Greider short solid one is what I had put on my .38 Super GM, along with a checkered arched MSH I found at a gun show. They just look and feel right to me.
