Independence Day north of the Equator and south of the Canal

Had a great day today. It's not a holiday here, but did manage to sneak off after lunch to burn some powder. Felt like a rich man lighting off that expensive stuff. Used the excuse that it was time to swap out the carry ammo. :-D 18 rounds of carry ammo and 10 more rounds to finish off the box then reload the Safari speed loaders and the speed strip and the cylinder and we're good to go - still need to finish cleaning the PPPPPP but the ammo's new and fresh.

Also spent time with the Crosman 2240. REALLY wish the Llama would shoot as good as this (relatively) cheap CO2 pistol. Well, as well as it was shooting today anyway. First couple times out with the factory caliber and the crummy ammo on hand (Apolo and Gamo brand - nasty stuff, both of them) were a disappointment. Today, on the other hand, with a different Gamo reference (their 5.5 mm Gamo Match) it turned in a fairly decent grouping - albeit the the occasional weird flier. Shot a quarter sized group at 25 meters with that ammo. Funny thing was, did better shooting from a standing weaver type stance than I did from a rest. Not sure WHY that was, but that's what happened. It wasn't the wind (dead calm) so the ammo, the nut that holds the pistol or the alignment of the stars was off when trying to squeeze the last bit of accuracy from the bench.

Happy anniversary to the land of my birth! May she stand strong against the forces that wish to destroy her is my prayer.
