Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner. This old gunman has used this product for many a year.
I have never found anything that works better.
Works great for removing rust and not hurting bluing.
Can be used wet or dry.

I have an old nickeled 1878 Colt in bad shape. I'll try it and let you know.
Not certain, but predictable
Bluing is much harder than nickel, and I think it is highly unlikely the 'proprietary' alloy in the product in question is any softer.
My bet is, the product will severely scratch nickel, if not remove it altogether.
Bottom Line: This is one case where I would definitely try it on an inconspicuous area first. (LOL)
