I took a couple of old friends out shooting today....

....both of .38 caliber persuasion. It seems that this old 5-screw K-38 Combat Masterpiece has a fondness for the old H&G #51 158 grain SWC at 900 fps....

Dadgum, Glen - if that ol' gun is going to shoot like that, why don't you adjust the sight a little and let it just eat the center out of the bullseye!

I usually don't bother adjusting sights myself 'cause I can't tell where the center of the group is.....

That is how a gun is supposed to group!

And it is a classic to boot.

Those old Combat Masterpieces can shoot...

I have a five screw in 22 that will hold sub-3/4" groups at 25 yards with a variety of ammunition. A five screw 38 is really high on my 'want' list. That is sure a beauty and some great shooting also.

Looks like you got the load worked up.

It that the bevel base or plain base? I have a 4 cavity and a 10 cavity mold for that bullet. One is plain and one bevel base. Haven't really worked up much of a load with them yet.

This is the plain-based version

I have a 10-cavity mould for the bevel-based version, but I haven't even cast a bullet with it yet (and I may never).

I misread you original post and forgot the number of mine

I have a 10 cavity 50BB full wadcutter. And my 4 cavity is a 50 with a plain base.

I also have a 10 cavity #268 SWC. It throws a nice looking .358" SWC in the 155-160gr range. I have cast a few with it, and it was a pain trying to keep hot enough to cut the sprues. I have shot a few of the and accuracy was really bad In three different revolvers. I need to try and cast a few more and see if I can improve my last results. Have you ever used the 268?

No, I don't have the 268.

nm

It doesn't get much better than that.
