Plunked down cash on a 20 gauge 870 youth model

Not the synthetic one -- wood stock and the 18.25 inch barrel. I think the 21-incher might be better for hunting, although I have not walked the woods with a rifle or shotgun for decades. The gun store had a Mossberg with a similar setup (and $60 cheaper), but I like Remingtons better.

Accounted for a slew of squirrel and rabbit with my single shot Marlin 101 in northern Maine (Aroostook County) back in the day. Pre-Cuban missile crisis, that far back.

Blame this forum for making me do it. Read a lot about it, and lo and behold ran across one a couple of days later.

Good call. I prefer the 20 for most of my hunting needs

and the youth sized stock is a winner.

With my 12 gauge Remingtons I notice little difference between my 18.5" and 20" bbled examples. They handle and feel almost exactly the same.
