Need a specific Commander grip safety.....

by Otony, Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 21:44 (4186 days ago)

......and willing to pay an unreasonable price if necessary! :-( :-D

I would like to purchase a first issue Commander grip safety, the one that resembles an ever so slightly shortened 1911 safety (NOT a 1911A1, but the earlier 1911). Indeed, I am not all together certain that original Commander grip safeties might not just simply be 1911 safeties.

Looking for one in blue, in superior condition please.

Got a leetle project in mind.......

Tall order, but there is one on eBay

COMMANDER GRIP SAFETY Colt MFG Starts at $9.99, No bids, 5+ days left

Otherwise, I'd probably watch GunBroker (and/or look up/contact MagnumMark there − he has A LOT of parts that he's been slowly getting rid of for some time now).

HTH :-)

Alas, no EBay account.

Not that I've missed those bastiges, as there ARE rare things to be had on there.

I purchased many of my childhood treasures from the 1950s on EBay, to enrich my old age, much to the dismay of my wife. However, extreme dissatisfaction with their suspect banking practices via PayPal finally caused me to give them up years ago....

I've only recently tried them

And now dumped them.

My reason was you CANNOT get help there.

I can't stand that.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you might find one afore me!:-P

Otony

Well, there are *two* of them on GunBroker (at least* − lol)

But one is a beater, and the other is $75.00 (plus the 'picture' doesn't match).

The latter states "Colt Manufacturer Part Number: 51004". Might be worth a phone call to Colt to confirm (or maybe someone else here knows). They also say they have 7 of them...

Long shot

No way of telling if they have one without calling, but they can at least confirm the part number for you,
and they are very nice people: Jack First Gunshop in Rapid City, SD.

And another 'beater' @ GB

by FOG, Thursday, June 13, 2013, 02:09 (4186 days ago) @ Otony

If that doesn't do for now...

by FOG, Thursday, June 13, 2013, 02:13 (4186 days ago) @ Otony

Or if you don't get an acceptable offer from someone on board who has one, let me know, and I will look some more.
