Had a big flood at Ft. Sumner a hundred years ago or so
The 1889 flood didn't get the graveyard, just some structures in the southwest corner of the parade ground. The 1937 flood didn't get the graveyard either. In fact the larger tombstone was erected in 1931, prior to the last flood. The little one was stolen a couple of times, but the big one stayed.
