Estimated Ballistics?

My current project is going to get cut and threaded next week. Cheap, simple, and short are the hallmarks of this project. Cutting a Handi rifle in 7mm/08 to 16.25 inches and having it threaded 5/8 x 24 for my .308 suppressor. The requirement of a takedown that will readily fit in an 18 inch or shorter case, pretty well sealed in the youth model Handi Rifle as the easiest starting place. From every thing I can find, conjecture, and calculate, it appears that the resulting ballistics will be effectively identical to 7X57 ballistics. I want a suppressor ready, CHEAP, SHORT rifle that can ride in the front seat beside my left leg when just tooling around at the ranch. I have a good 4X fixed Leupold already assigned to the top of it. Additonal requirements: factory loads available at any Walmart, and minute of hog accuracy to 250 yards.

Anyone have any experience with a short 7mm/08?

Sarena has a Browning Micro Medalion in 7-08 that she and Roger took to Africa. I know she shot several animals there with a 140gr TSX at 2800 FPS. Not sure what the barrel length is on hers though 20" maybe.

I'm going to be little to no help here but I am interested as well. I will be taking delivery of an 18" Ruger American in 7mm-08 in the very near future. Poking around on a couple of 'net sites would seem to indicate you should be close to 7x57...maybe? Most places I visited just now do not list barrel length so it's a bit hard to judge. I will be interested to hear any results you get Mark. Thanks.

Stumbled nto this Mark....

That certainly answered the question.
