This is the mould....

...that taught me to appreciate the Cramer style of HP mould. This is a Cramer #11 2-cavity HP mould for the .38/.357, and it casts a 158 grain SWC-HP that is a dandy in both the .38 Special and .357 Magnum. These moulds will cast HPs almost as fast as a regular 2-cavity will cast SWCs. A few years later, a friend of mine gave me a Cramer HP mould that was missing the HP pin. I had planned on making the HP pin myself, but never got around to it. One day, while talking HP bullets moulds with Erik Ohlen, I asked him if he would be willing to give it a try, and he agreed. He did a dandy job fixing that mould, and then a little while later started offering Cramer-style HP conversions to his customers (he's done a number of these for me, all first-rate). A little while after that, Miha Prevac started selling beautifully made multi-cavity Cramer-style HP moulds that he made from the ground up (if you've never seen Miha's moulds you really should check out his website, his work is spectacular). Both of those men have made a significant investment of both time and money (not to mention business risk), and we all benefit from their hard work and stellar craftsmanship. And in a way, it all got started with this one, little bitty bullet mould. That's kinda neat....

I think I'll go out and cast up a batch with some nice soft recovered range scrap and get them ready to load in some .38 +P ammo for this summer's varminting....:-D
