It's long but I have to share this story:
So many are quick to forget, I still remember Pearl Harbor. Met many of the 442nd survivors when I was in Hawaii. Was in Jr. High in Santa Monica, CA when they relocated many of the Japanese Americans living in CA. In 1947 met twin sisters in Key West I knew in Jr. High. Said their Dad was a Naval Aviator stationed at Boca Chica. Had a very good friend and Leather worker whom was seriously wounded at Peleliu, sent him to Ruidosa, NM to rehabilitate. Said the clear air and no humidity would help, Married a Nurse he met there and they bought 5 scres of prime real estate for $500; Turned down over a million on several occasions. Made the trek to a VA hospital once a month for the ret of his life. Died with shrapnel still in him, at the VA hospital he practically lived at.
