LGS - sad state of affairs

LGS owner was saying he almost hated to sell guns - it made him look like he was going out of business with the bare shelves it created.
If he's out, he didn't manage his buying or pricing very

well. He may be going out of business and just hasn't realized it yet.

and quickly sells out of the popular (most) stuff, guns and ammo. Finally upped the MU on ammo. It is a difficult balancing act to serve long-time customers and not be stripped bare by the drive-by profiteers. Although the shelves are obviously bare, daily gross is double this time last year. Because it all goes out as it comes in there isn't any on the shelves but he's constantly selling. People are on waiting lists for this and that. If something comes in that one guy on the list has already found elsewhere somebody else snaps it up.
I say this to note that looks might be deceiving. No, he might not have stuff on the shelf but he might not be in as bad a shape as you might think UNLESS he's told you otherwise. AFAIK, distributors are making every effort to fairly distribute to their customers as AFTER this those dealers need to be in business for the distributors to be in business.

Not to excuse the sad sentiment expressed by the owner

But everyone I ever knew who had to deal face-to-face with the public every single work-long-day got burned out.
I once had a chance to 'buy' a well-stocked LGS for virtually nothing − and I do mean nothing − and that is one of the main reasons I didn't take the plunge.

I get the impression this guy retired from a "real" job

And he and his wife run this little hole in the wall shop. He still has full display cases and walls but more oddball or high dollar stuff and some junk guns now.
