'Well, that certainly was a bust.' − Doc Holliday

Ordered and received a 'pair' of these from Midway, and if they aren't factory seconds, I don't know what is.

Believe it or not, the lower portion of the grip was very obviously formed by means of some type of grinder.

Being basic black, this is pretty hard to 'prove' with a picture, but I kid you not: Someone actually ground the surfaces of these grips in order to achieve the fingerless form.

Oh, did I say "grips"?

I am loathe to admit it, but I actually got two.

I suppose the 'good' news is, combined with their striking asymmetry (lol), the differences between these two grips strongly reinforce my thesis: These grips are 'recycled' seconds.

Beyond that, let's just call it 'Lesson Learned'...

I see where Midway has a 'Feedback' section. I'd let them know about it and save others the same fate.

Good point

I submitted this review:

Believe it or not, someone at Hogue actually *ground* the surfaces of these grips. The grooves are gone, but so is the "cobblestone (stippled)" surface, and the 'tracks' left behind look like they were made by a Dremel fool on drugs. *DO NOT BUY*

Midway reviews such submissions, so we'll see if it gets posted in '3-5 business days'...

I'd send them back.

Unless it was some kind of clearance sale.

My first thought was to toss 'em in the hopper

Next, the Bargain Bin at the LGS... :-D

Then, after a suitable period of introspection, I resolved to send them back...

To Hogue.

Actually, I'm not sure what I'll do, but they sure aren't going on a gun. :-|

I appreciate the offer, but none really 'need' grips

by FOG, Thursday, May 02, 2013, 22:20 (4226 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

I have 'normal' Hogues on the guns these grips were replacing.

I've used Hogues for years actually like them, at least on some guns (for example, Model 617s).

I just wanted to try the 'grooveless' type, and I am sorely disappointed by the way Hogue went about making them.

It's almost unbelievable.

If I return them, that's where they are going: To Hogue (along with a terse but polite letter copied to Midway).

If I wind up getting a refund, great; if not, Hogue can pound sand from now on.

In my view, Midway bears no liability on this one; it's entirely Hogue's fault (they catalog this grip, too), and I'm not inclined to let them off the hook.

Send them back.

I'm leaning that way more all the time

I just find it distasteful having to do it, particularly when it's a product I thought I knew and could trust. :-|
