grating pronounciation of "Leever" Action?

My wife uses that pronunciation. She looks at me, picks up the Marlin Cowboy LTD in 45 colt and says "Leever alone, it's mine!"

Now, y'all let us hayseeds alone!

Everyone around here says Leever especially those that have stood in the woods with the huntin dogs waiting on a quick shot at game on a nice fall day. Or rolled out of the truck trying to get a quick shot at a Coyote before it makes the woods.
