Colt 1911 "Commando"

My airgunning buddy showed me an unusual Colt 1911 today. It's stainless steel, with a fullsize frame, and an "Officer's Model" slide and barrel assembly. It's marked "Colt Commando" on the left side of the slide, and "1991 Commando Series" on the right. The serial number is "BCC---". It has Heinie night sights that may have been installed by the previous owner.He had a print out of a 1996 Gunbroker auction for a similar pistol with an asking price of $1866.00. He asked me if I knew anything about it and what it might be worth. anybody know anything about these?
