Are guns really selling for the prices asked?

I was cruising GB, filtered out for just revolvers in the state of MO. There is a Ruger Service Six .38 with a $700 "buy now". Really? There has been a Taurus 431 some guy wants $750 for.
Colt SAA's are starting to look reasonable.
Some are, others aren't

I look at GunBroker a lot more than I probably should, and some of the items I 'track' have indeed sold for fantastic prices. Others priced too high have sat there for months.
The gun market is fickle in the extreme. If you watch it long enough, you're bound to see all kinds of hair-raising things.
There is one constant, though: The good deals don't last very long.

Anything N frame and pre-lock seems to be going high.

I've been hoping to pick up a 5" 625, but I either need to stretch my price/pain threshold, or give up. Jack is tormenting me with a 624.
On GB, yes
The LGS, not so much.
Someone recently consigned a bunch of pre-lock N-frames, including a 625 Mountain Gun in .45 Long Colt. 
I believe they have $899 on that one.
It was still there yesterday, as were several other LNIB stainless N-frames, mostly big-bore three-inchers, and mostly $1000 or more.
Even so, I was surprised they weren't gone, but I suppose 'everyone' wants an AR or AK instead.
Or at least they do right now...
What a waste. :/

The only time I use the expression . . .
. . . ".45 Long Colt" is when I know it will cause somebody's head to explode. There are a few so afflicted.
Everybody else seems to have a sense of humor.

On a 'serious' note
When I was a teenager still trying to figure out the 'Gun World', I reckoned that the term .45 Long Colt distinguished it from what was then called simply, the .45 Auto.
Which, of course, was also a Colt − only shorter.
I might have been wrong way back then, and of course I could be now, but to tell the truth, that breakdown of the terminology always made sense to me.
Frankly, it still does.

I have always used the term "Long" to be sure we're all on the same page and avoid confusion with "ACP" . . . and perhaps "Schofield".
"Long" may not be absolutely correct, but we all know what it means and I'm a big fan of clarity.

On the 624
If you're talking about this one, I can't imagine what's holding you back.
That Patridge front sight is like icing on a cake; I always thought the standard ramp front sight on the 6½-inch 624s didn't 'fit' as well as the target-type blade would have.
Conversely, I'd much rather have the standard trigger and hammer this gun is fitted with than the fat, clumsy target trigger and hammer usually found on 6½-inch 624s.
Look at it this way: 'It's only money.'

This was on gunbroker last week, what it sold for was, in my opinion, alot less than it is worth, considering the condition, pinned barrel etc, most of the 57's on GB at the time went for more money, the question is why?

Easy
The demand for .41 Magnum sixguns waxes and wanes like flatus in a snow flurry.
It has always been the 'outcast' caliber among The Big Three, but every once in a while the bug goes around again and prices go up, only to settle back down to 'normal' once the fever breaks.
Sometimes the guns fly off the shelves, but more often they sit there a while, and inventory costs money.

It sat a week or two − kinda hard to believe − then finally sold.
It was initially priced at $849; I do not know if they wound up taking less for it.

What's a 696-0? I have never heard of that dash number on a 696.

The "-0" suffix has been appearing online for some time now
Ironically, perhaps, 'S&W people' use it is a means of clarification, specifically to distinguish the subject specimen in conversation from later variations: e.g., 696-1.
