Colt SAA Generation
What are SAA's of recent manufacture considered to be? Third Generation or is there now a Fourth and Fifth?
More than a few people are calling them '4th Gen'
But I don't think that term or '5th Gen' have become 'official'.
I don't keep up as much as I used to by reading the gun press, though, so I could be . . . right?

FOOLS. THERE IS NO 4TH GENERATION PER THE COLT COMPANY ITSELF !!!
I've also heard there's no such thing as a ".45 Long Colt"
(Doh @ Me − LOL)
But the only Colt factory letter I ever had for a Single Action Army said exactly that.
Who'da thunk it?

If it's any consolation, it's probably a 'small one', but...
The factory letter calling the caliber of my old SAA ".45 Long Colt" was written by a wimmins.
Do you suppose that was just Wishful Thinking?

Colt SAA Generation
I'm asking because all the after market grips/stocks I see are listed as "3rd Generation SAA".
In general, stocks for the Colt SAA have to be fitted.
There's just too much variation in frame dimensions (even within generations, never mind among them).
The other alternative is 'Try before you buy', but I realize that's not always an option.
The good news is, I've only bought a few pairs of SAA stocks without seeing them firsthand.
Just don't ask me why I didn't 'get it' the second time around.
