I would say it's 'different', not better or worse.

I also have a VM-2 and an 'original' Summer Special for that Keeper-Of-All-Keepers: The S&W J-Frame.
Each holster has its advantages, its disadvantages, and most importantly, its place.
The differences are pretty obvious (e.g., widely-spaced loops vs. closely-spaced loops, or just one loop for that matter, etc.). I think to fully appreciate them, you have to actually try both holsters.
In my experience, that means buying the holsters and wearing them for some time.
'C'est la vie.'
PS: If it's any consolation, 'I feel your pain.' (Of indecision...)
