I love wood heat......
On the farm where I grew up we had what was called a "Morning Stove" used to take the chill out of the house if the main furnace went out during the night. We also burned wood (ELM trees felled due to the blight)to heat the house. The best thing my father like to start the fires with was corn cobbs he obtained from our neighbors at corn picking and shelling time. Burned clean, nice hot flame and could kick start any fire intended. We had two coal bins we used one for the cut wood and one for the corn cobbs. ATB
