Ever seen a left-handed monkey wrench?

There is a reason why the .25 ACP cartridge has been popular in this country for over a century. Many, many oldtimers, including my grandad, carried a Colt 1908 in their front pants pocket every day. I never knew he had it until shortly before he passed away. We were out in his back yard one day, and he asked me if I had ever seen a left-handed monkey wrench. When I said no, he grinned and pulled the little Colt out of his pocket.

Grandpop Homer grew up rough in rural Georgia in the early 1900s. He was a little guy, but you didn't mess with him if you knew what was good for you. I think the sheriff finally took that Colt away from him after he chased a smart-mouthed yuppie down the town's main street with it when 'way up in his 80s.

Wow, we may be related.

My Grandad got his Colt .32 Banker's Special taken away when he took it to the bank and waved it around in the 70's because he thought they wouldn't give him all his money. The State Bank Of DeKalb Texas. (pronounced DEE CAB at least by him)

Yep, DEE CAB is the correct pronounciation for we locals.

If a person were to ask 'How far is it to DEE-KALB from here?' We'd know right off they ain't from roun' these heah' parts.

Its only about 35 miles from my place. For decades its also been known as one of the worse speed traps in the country. How bad? I'll just say for many years it was hard to pass thru DeKalb and NOT see someone getting a ticket.

Triva Note: Hoss Cartwright was born and raised in DeKalb, also his final resting place.

And am now kicking myself.

Anybody know anything about the Taurus PLY 25?

Don't knw that'un. Owned a PT 25 for a few years now. A true incapacitating case of the giggles with 209 primers and #3 shot....just sayin'. ;-)

Errrrrrr.. Hoot??

by Catoosa, Friday, January 04, 2013, 21:12 (4343 days ago) @ Hoot

There's a lot of things I don't know, and some I don't want to know, but is there something related to .25 autos and 209 primers and #3 shot that I SHOULD know and don't?

Errrrrrr.. Hoot??

Put the three together for a fun time! Easier with teh Beretta/Taurus tilt up barrel style action. Drop a roundball in, put a 209 behind that, close action and pull trigger for true popgun performance!

I made up some .22 Hornet shells awhile back that would shoot a .22 cal air rifle pellet using a 209 shotsheel primer. that was fun stuff!

Errrrrrr.. Hoot??

Yup. That combo will ring 50 yard steel easily enough. Might be the best use of a .25.

As Mark and Doug state..

The #3 shot is .25 dia.

The flange on the 209 is right close to the rim of the .25ACP (which is semi-rimmed).

They fire off almost always. Every now and then, they need a couple hits. The round ball steps out of that short barrel with surprising alacrity. I fired some in the basement which penetrated 30-odd pages into a phone book.

It's silly but great fun.

I'll have to start looking for a 25acp. Thanks

I will have to hunt up some #3 shot and try that. Got the stuff to load .25 ACP but have not done any.

that's the new polyymer framed version
